are you running petrol or diesel, i know you put petrol tank in your heading but..........

best way to get the crap out is remove tank and flush out stuff with parafin or similar (cheapest stuff) but not water, if its rusty, let it dry, pour in a tin of por15 paint, swill it round till the tank is sealed inside, let it dry, re-fit and use. dont forget to re-place your old filters etc. ok? get the kettle on it will be a big job!
