Engine water pipes?

Post by Hayteam »

Is anybody making some of the waterpipes found in the engine bay area. I wanted a pipe for a customers vehicle contacted VAG and found out that they were discontinued in 1990. Luckily we had one on a vehicle we were breaking but as the vehicles are getting more popular this source is going to dry up. We adapted another waterpipe earlier on the year from another pipe as it was a really short S pipe and that is no longer available from VAG since feb last year. So I just thought I would ask.

Story of VW. As soon as a vehicle starts to become really popular, they discontinue the bits.
They then live on the reputation of VWs being long lasting on the backs of the specialists out there who keep the old ones going.
The main importers won't invest in manufacture because they'll say there is no call for the parts....

I reckon that someone who can bend and weld stainless tube could make some good substitutes.

Dont know if its any help but I recently replaced the long metal pipe from the water pump to the thermostat housing and I got it from GSF. I did notice that JK had them in stock too but with the club discount it was cheaper at GSF.

I got a brand new plastic pipe part no 251121438 which is for a manual T25 from vag. I had a call from someone that wanted the one with a A on the end for an automatic but was unable to help and VAG were not able to source one.
