Today when it dries up I'm gonna be changing the front shocks on me van. Where would be the best place to put the axle stands? I'm gonna be jacking it up at the jacking point but I don't know where to place the stands. The Haynes manual says to use the jack to compress the shock so it's easier to get them out.
Any other tips? Wish me luck as this is the most technical thing I've done.

Jack the van
I put them under the chassis box section just inboard of the jacking points.

Relax it's a piece of P ... hardest thing is to hold the top of the damper while you undo the nut .... wire brush first and soak in penetrating fluid

bloody Halfrauds! Brought a jack off them yesterday to do the shocks today, opened the box this morning and it's missing the bit the pole goes into so it won't work
. So I take it back to exchange it, "Sorry we haven't got anymore in stock. We can order you one?" "Ok" I say. "It'll be here on Thursday." THURSDAY!!!!

Is there an Argos near where you are? They sell a decent Clarke 3 ton trolley jack (£40) which might save you waiting for Halfords:
