Weight question

What is the weight of a camper. I've just received some new front shocks from Brickwerks (cheers Baxter) so I need to buy a car jack and axle stands. Also where is the best place to put the axle stands?

I think the camper weighs about 2.5 tonne ( sure I'll be corrected if wrong ) but you won't be lifting the complete weight .

Gross Vehicle Weight is 2.4 Tonnes (2,400 kg) it's on the vehicle ID plate on the door post. Our's with all camping gear, food, full water tank,me etc weighed 2T on our weighbridge at work, with the bikes and rest of the family and their clothes it's probably just shy of top weight

I remarked on this in another thread, but the interior alone can weigh an incredible amount which is why I've stripped mine completely and making a featherweight interior. The old one was chipboard and I'll bet if it was all stacked, theres NO way I could lift it!

I had my old Leisuredrive camper weighed on a weighbridge at a ferry port in Ireland as the girl thought it might be over 3 ton - I couldn't tell her otherwise. It came out at under 2.

I'm a first time buyer looking for a nice T3. I don't want to be bottoming out over every speed bump. That's what it was like in me Dolomite Sprint I just sold. Do campervans need to have uprated suspension to carry the weight of the conversions? Is keeping load weight down a big issue with T3s?

conversion weights not really an issue as they were designed to carry bags of cement & plaster etc (except for mpg)

Many people lower their 25s for cosmetic or 'handling' reasons ... the Caravelle left the factory lower (by 35mm ?) than the panel vans most conversion companies purchased new. Quality uprated springs and shocks are available from Brickwerks.

Some campers left the converters with underslung water and/or leisure lpg tanks and heaters.
