i am sure if i could find a manual that dealt with this engine this should be easy, but i haven't so can anyone tell me the best way to go about changing the v belt that runs from the crank pulley to the water pump?
Cheers

this isnt one of them where one of the pulleys have shims on it,is it owduck?...if theres no tensioner on a belt thats the only way i think...if it is-one pulley needs the front unbolting to remove belt ,then when you place shims it tightens it back up.....i run a 1 belt system so not sure tho!

Your going to have to take a photo of this!
The only reason you would have a two belt setup on a 1Y is if you still have the power steering pump connected.
Have you got power steering?
Im guessing (but i photo would help) that you are trying to get off the belt from the crank pulley wheel to the power steering pump.
The water pump is the pulley wheel sharing its belt with the alternator (at least it should be)

It sounds like you have a complete non standard setup here...

Problem solved
The 2 belt system is still the old set up from the cs engine, the person who did the conversion didn't swap the pulleys over.
So the pulleys are the old style which are split & then tightened by removing or adding shims.
Thanks to all for the help & advice. It sure is interesting this veedub thing
