Try and change your ferry for one that night when you get there, you can then stay in the huge Calais 'sans billets' parking area.

It's a little noisy, very safe, free and you'll get a head start the next morning.

You'll find lots of people doing the same.

all useful...thanks...

we considered driving down on friday night and getting a late crossing...but we are just unsure about the travel time (stafford to dover on a friday evening) i normally do it in a car capable of breaking the sound barrier and normally work on the assumption that i have to allow for an hour around the m25, 25mins looking at the view off the QE bridge and then batting the daylights out along the m20 to dover...

my first guess was to double my travel time from an anticipated 3.75 hrs to nearly 7.5hrs... but i couldnt be sure so we started considering the late night arrival in dover and early ferry.

Anyone got a travel time estimate for a t25 topping 65mph from stafford to dover ?

:D

We have decided to go down Thursday night instead of Friday. Our ferry isnt till 6pm on fri so we thought we would visit Dover Castle. M25 on bank holiday Fri is a nightmare. Last time we went to the Fox and Goose we spent 5 hours to get from jct 27 to jct 12 about 40 miles.
