where to buy a 1.6 diesel engine?

hi all

have posted in chat about our problems but basically our van needs a new engine, we will probably have to sell it as a project or scrap it but am just wondering how much a new engine would be? where could we get one from? and how much to fit it in?

I don't really want our van to be scrapped so am searching for quick solutions......

i have no idea where to look online for a 1.6 diesel engine....

any advice appreciated

golf and caddy engines are the same......

Do a search on here, the wiki, and BY for "1Y" engine.

Its a 1.9d that will more or less swap straight over.

My curent 1.6 I got from free adds for £40, it has served me well for the last 4 years.

try fleabay,or do you have a scrap yard near by possible might have a scrap golf with good engine?
