oil pump

oil pump

can anyone tell me what the oil pump does for the engine and if it isnt working right, would it effect the carb, if so, how? T25 1.9DG petrol RHD.

oil pump pumps oil to the bearings and other essential areas of the engine, no it wouldn't effect the carb

And in the old days you could get a bit more life out of it by polishing the cover plate down on a bit of 100 grade wet or dry sitting on a bit of flat metal or plate glass so as to eliminat thew groves made by the gears. Now they are cheap as chips for this motor. :)
