New stereo draining battery :(

Well after a bit of an adventure getting hold of a fuse for the multimeter I have found that our new stereo is a little greedy beggar. It is drawing just under 1 amp when the camp is stood up and the stereo facia off! Also found my so called leisure battery is one its way out.

In the tech specs for the stereo it says: Switched (Red Wire) 1.0 AMP. So I guess they have stated it.

So I have a few decisions to make, either get rid of stereo or put a switch in and face not being able to play my stereo when parked up for prolonged periods

Any IPod compatible recommended stereos that fit in the dash and aren't greedy ?

Next battle is trying to get a leisure battery to fit under the seat. Had a look on the wiki and to be honest the 190mm max height specified is in my opinion 10mm to high if you want to shut the lid and put any protection across the terminals to avoid a short, so that wipes out all the proper leisure batteries I have looked at Time for another forum search

code 096 it is, all leisure batteries are too high. any recommendations on makes of 096's?

Jamie, can't remember if you said the old one had a cassette but you can get a 'cassette - Ipod' interface, dead cheap. Plug the interface into your cassette slot and Ipod into the 'cassette interface'. Never used one but apparently work, Argos used to do them but check. They use the tape head in the radio to access the amp. Just a thought.........
