swivel seat not swivelling! battery access

Post by veewee »

Hi. the front driver seat on my 1991 autohomes komet is stuck (won't swivel) and you need to be able to do this to get the battery out (which I want to do - it needs replacing). Any ideas?? Thanks

Pull the seat as far forward as possible. On one side (inside on mine) there is a little metal sticky up bit (stop me when I'm getting too technical) that stops the seat sliding off the rails altogether. Pull this up (I think) so it goes over the stop and continue to slide the seat right off. You can then gain access to the four locking nuts that holds the swivelly bit (stop me when... etc etc).

If you slacken these off a bit the swivel should work - remove them completely and the swivelly bit will lift up and the base can be raised and pulled forward enough to allow the battery to go in/out. You might as well apply a bit of grease to the swivelly bit while your there. When you re-tighten the nuts leave them a turn off 'tight' and that should allow the swivel to work. Then just slide the seat back onto the rails.
