T25 Fuel Pump
Having been told we need a new fuel pump for our 1985 T25 Transporter we are having real difficulty finding a new one. All the potential suppliers we have contacted seem to only suggest one that actually won't fit. It seems as if the design we need is no longer manufactured...aaarggh! The problem is that our old one has the in and out pipes in alignment, whereas the version being suggested to us has these pipes pointing in slightly different directions and there just isn't the room to accommodate this or adapt it in the space available. Any suggestions for how we might overcome this or source the original would be really gratefully received. This is our 'new' van and it's been stuck outside the house for too long now!

T25 Fuel Pump
That's very cheap! They used to be around £45 from JK or just under £40 from GSF with 10% off (club discount). The GSF ones are Pierberg OEM.The one in the JK link looks the same.

Thanks for the quick responses. We have looked at the JK link and amazingly it looks right! Our slight concern is that it mentions it requires 'modifictaion to fit' and the code is CT... whereas we have been told to look out for 'CU...'. We are mechanical amateurs - does anyone have any more thoughts before we go ahead and order the pump. Thanks again.

We spoke to GSF earlier today and the one they have is the 'wrong' one unfortunately. They described it over the 'phone and it definitely doesn't have the two pipes in alignment. VW themselves said they had stopped production of the type we think we need...

Sas, if your T25 is a 1985 model why would you want a fuel pump for a 2.0l CU air cooled engine. In fact the fuel pump for the CU engine is obsolete!
Your van is most likely to be a 1.9 DG. Please check the engine number to confirm this. It is the prefix letters eg. DF or DG that you need. The fuel pump in the JK link is for a 1.6 CT air cooled engine or a 1.9 DG water cooled engine.
I replaced the fuel pump on my 1984 camper last year & it is exactly like the one pictured in the JK link. As I previously posted, if that's a Pierberg fuel pump it is very cheap.

Latest update - have just spoken to JustKampers who have said that the picture is not correct and in fact the fule pump they supply is the one we already have ie. with the 2 pipes out of alignment. Apparently this can be modified by bending one of the pipes(!) and using an additional bit of hosing. I sense this may be a job for someone with more ability than us...!

Bowton Lad - sorry to be pedantic, but were the two pipes in alignment on the fuel pump you purchased as we had no joy with GSF yesterday on this model. Thanks for engine info. too - will investigate.
Sas
Please could you let us know which engine this is for? if you don't know the code then air or water cooled would be a start.
I just checked a spare fuel pump in my garage, a peirburg pump for a DG (1.9 waterboxer), this has the connections about 10-15 degrees apart.

Sas, yes the fuel pump I purchased from GSF has the 2 pipes in alignment.
The fuel pump on a 1.9 DG engine is situated in the engine bay but the fuel pump on a 2.0l CU engine is situated underneath the engine & is not visible from the engine bay.

I managed to fit a just kampers one last week, it is very close to the pillar
but just about fits with a little bend in the pipe ( not enough to slow the fuel delivery) seems to be ok
