Hard to find first gear

Post by KarlT »

89' 1.6TD Syncro.

Hi, It is very difficult to get first on my 'new' Doka. All the others seem pretty straight forward but 1st requires pushing the gear stick down, as if you were going to sellect reverse but pushing forward before going that far over. If that makes sense. Can be a bit embarrassing at the lights! Is there a plate/some bit that wears or is there some (easy) adjustment without messing up the rest?

I have to do this too, it's very worrying if I have to stop on a hill as the handbrake isn't up to that much either

If anyone know's the solution I'd like to know too!!

please make sure you are never behind me during a hill start
If its not broken, tinker with it, then when you break it phone your dad. Work's well for me!

Have the same prob, if I do it twice in succession it goes into first no probs, do it once and its reverse most times. Think the linkage at the box is the problem on mine as I can see the 'white mushroom' and haven't got around to doing it since I discovered that doing it twice solved the problem.....next on my to do list! I will watch this thread....closely!
