Confused over engine number!

Post by Bond007 »

Had a good look through the WIKI, and on the Brickyard site but a bit still a bit confused over my engine number.

Van is a 1988 2.1(?) LHD manual petrol, imported from Germany.

Engine number is; DG017201X

According to all info I have gleaned it should be a 1.9 wbx carburettor model, but there aint no carbs on it, and it's definately a FI engine.

Anyone shed any light on this :?:

Thanks

It's a DG case, if it's not been rebuilt then it's a 1.9 with a 2.1 injection system on top, if it's been rebuilt it's possible that it's got 2.1 insides, but with that early an engine number I'd reckon it's still a 1.9 - it was a cheap fix when the original DJ went bang.

I concur with Aidan.. I doubt its a 2.1 inside as its a good bit of work to do on an early case...

"european" DG's were never fitted with fuel injection..... always carbs..
