T4 syncro gearbox questions

Post by vwjon »

hi guys, does a t4 2wd drive box fit in place of a 4wd box? i know the prop shaft will have to be removed but the van needs to be moved.
does anyone have an exploded veiw of a t4 box, both 4x4 and 2wd.
are the gears interchangable, ie is 1st in a 4x4 box the same as 1st in a 2wd box etc etc. cheers jon.
such is life
he who dies with the most toys wins.
when im at those pearly gates i want to tick ALL the boxes!
you laugh at me because i'm different, i laugh at you because you're all the same!

right had a look,as far as i can see theres no diference between a 2wd car and a 4wd car,it looks like its the same for both,as far as even on 2wd it has the hole for the prop too pass through the tank and the same rear trailing arms with blanking things in where the rear shafts go,so your gearbox thing should be fine, also its not gospel but i think you can put a 4wd transfer case on a 2wd car which would make a conversion real easy,cj.

yeah he does like towing a caravan rather alot with it....

luckily it is his caravan, and he doesnt usually set of at 3am, and he actually bought his T4 new. :)

I still dont like it, goes round corners worse than mine, is noisy, and leaves a plume of horrid black smoke out the back.

Still worth it for 27mpg.

Yep, T4's really don't go around corners.
Well, they don't untill you lower them, fit some decent dampers and put an anti roll bar on the back, then they stick like sh*t to a blanket.
