I believe you have an irritating but rarely serious malady which goes under the name Gearstickus Twizus - Gearstick twiz. I was afficted with this on my bedford CF and cured it - don't laugh - by encircling the gear lever near the top by a cloth tube losely filled with sand and closed around the stick at both ends with a tywrap. This dampened out the vibration and prevented the resonance which by any other means would have been difficult. Use of an elastic band attached to some part of the seat or dash will do the job but is inclined to throw you out of gear at the most embaressing moment. Now I did ask you not to laugh.
Cheers
