Re: exhaust system for T25

Post by amoore77uk »

Hi,
Have got a 1915CC watercooled T25 (1988). I'm after a complete new exhaust system including all pipes etc.. but trying to work out what to get.

JustKampers do one for about £270, is there anywhere I can get a standard T25 system cheaper? Alternatively I have seen an empi twin exhaust system (2 Tip Gt EMPI Exhaust System) but not sure if I will need custom built pipes??

any advice? cheers

At the top of the page is a 'Search' facility,,,,,,,,,,,,,select it, type in your choice, ie Exhaust,,,,,,,,and you will find at least 6 threads on this very subject.

IMHO, you may be wasting your money on a standard system mainly because of quality,,,,,,,,,SS is the way to go ,really.

Standard systems and by that I mean original Volkswagen, are top quality and will likely last 5-8 years, only trouble is you are looking at over £650 parts only.
After market as in JK..@ £270 are in fact the cheap option
ADD 5 hours labour on top or more if a stud breaks (engine out) it becomes a very expensive system especially as they only last 3-4 years.
Many believe given the hassel and labour expense that a stainless steel after market is the best option.
These seem to cost between £475 and £595 depending on who's you go for. The obvious benefits are longevity and the fact most users only have to have it done (pay the labour) the one time.

Swings and roundabouts it seems

I suppose if you intend on keeping the van until it reverts back to it's natural state...
A nice stainless one would seem to be the answer...

Watching too as I will need one soon too.

Apparently ( so I am told ) the Empi ones are rubbish, don't last 10 minutes and have the wrong back pressure so spoil economy etc - so I am told - it might be duff info !!
