Fuel expansion tanks

Post by Snag20 »

The two fuel expansion tanks under the front wheel arches have been removed and I am now attempting to put them back.

The 2 lower fuel line connections on each seem straight forward enough

BUT, where does the top pipe on each tank connect up to, currently I have a black pipe attached but cannot see where on the van it attaches to???

cheers

Both pipes go to the tank, one goes probably where you've already found, the other connects across the top of the tank into the tank and to the other expansion bottle. So you should have a pipe across the top of the tank too with two connections in each end.

Someone else can probably explain it much better than that but it's a start!!

 I just went out to get my Haines manual to scan the picture for you but then realised Daisy's at the garage!!

Anyway, from memory, there's a long pipe which goes across the top of the FUEL tank, which splits into two at each end. One bit goes into the fuel tank and the other bit goes onto more pipes to the expansion tanks. Then the other pipe from the expansion tanks (the one you've done) goes to the bottom of the fuel tank does it not?

:D Are the top pipes just a breather pipe then? The one on the off side of mine is broken at the tank end ie no pipe attached there. New expansion tank time?
