autosleeper questions
hi, couple of questions about pastel white autosleeper vht '85
1. does anyone know the colour codes/details for the stripe
the thick one is a sort of chocolate brown and the thin detail orange/red
2. window seals - i ordered a replacement rubber for the rear offside window from justkampers and i presumed that they were factory fitted windows rather than panel van conversion windows and ordered the seal accordingly.
it looks different from the one on the van though
can anyone shed some light on this for me?
thanks
andrew

I tried unsuccesfully to get original Autosleeper decals and they're not available, best bet is to take a few close up photos and a few measurements and pop to your local signs/graphics place and they'll be able to make you some up as near as damn it.
Regarding your window seal,i think Autosleeper purchased panel vans for they're conversions and cut out the windows etc themselves.Take a sample to National windscreens( i did) and they should sell you some of the roll and insert.
All the best with your van.

thankscamperman! - ill check national windscreens!
hi kev - i did check that manual on the wiki but i think mine is a vht ('85) and the stripes were a different colour - the pic of a trident ive seen is much more red with gold detail. mine is brown with orange/red
im pretty certain it's original too.
the asoc list is rather vague - perhaps ill go down halfords and check all their codes and do a visual colour match!

Have you tried contacting Autosleeper?
I got some replacement popup roof seals from them last week and Jean in the parts department was very helpful.
Looking at the seals on all my windows they have either shrunk or they fitted short ones when they did them as none butt up nicely, they all have gaps at the joins and the one on the sliding door is really bad especially inside as the tubber is about 2" too short, when they cut the widow out the person that did it really hacked the whole out, very rough at the corners so definitely not factory fitted.

firstly my Apologies.. I was unaware you had had a good look at the wiki
auto sleeper started with VW in 1982 and those are the known coachlines on the ASOC site that members have submitted
I don't think it's vague...
however.. mine too is a VHT ('86)and it had the brown coachline and redish pink 1/8" pinstripes.. with the 1/4" white pinstripe.
Are you repainting the coachline or just touching up?
Reason I ask is if you are repainting.. the other colours, and pinstripes are much nicer than the Brown, (which I removed completely).
I shall dig deeper in my quest for the correct paint code..
though I doubt the pink/red/orange pinstripes will be off the shelf

During 1983/84 & possibly a bit later Auto-Sleepers used Talbot Mango stripes on white vans. Good luck if you go to Halfwits for advice as I found them most unhelpful when trying to identify a paint colour.

thats the one !
Talbot Deep Mango - code YW
i phoned autosleeper and the guy said that it was the only brown they ever used.
went to a paint shop called mitchells www.gmitchell.co.uk
and they were very helpful and mixed it for me - looks a good match
the autosleeper guy said that the orange pinstrip was a sticker and that you couldnt get it any more

the colour is on the ASOC site too
I've got the original Auto-Sleeper Operating Instructions for the VT21 & on the back someone has written ''Paint Pastel White, Stripe Talbot Deep Mango''.

if anyone needs a little bit of the orange pinstripe i have got a few orange vinyl car stickers that are a pretty good colour match (i got them made up for my old record label). - you could cut a few strips off and use it to fill any little gaps.
