Replacing fuel pipe

Post by mike the van »

Wanting to renew fuel pipe from fuel filter, just by fuel tank outlet back to carbs.
Most of this length is plastic VW stuff , what is best to replace the run of pipe, rubber reinforced fuel hose or can you get copper brake pipe to do the same job, or can you get the plastic pipe.

I want to get rid of the various joints and hose diameters after replacing the mechanical fuel pump with an electric.

Cheers

On my van there is a short piece of rubber braided fuel hose to connect the inline fuel filter to the plastic hose which runs to the engine bay. Then it's back to the rubber braided stuff in the engine bay.

The rubber braided fuel hose will last for years & it's what VW always used in the engine bay. :)

Most likely Halfwits or any independent motor factors.

I am replacing all my fuel lines and using reinforced rubber fuel injection hose. At my local motor factures it is £3 per meter and it is fully stamped up along its length with things like BS approved, pressure rating etc for future MOTs.
