What Leisure bettery should I get & where

Post by irishkeet »

Hi

Need a leisure battery for my German T25.
Just wondering what people think is the best one to get and where to buy it from, Im in Enfield North London.
I had a look at the list on the Wiki link but Im not sure if they are dedicated Leisures?
Also will be going to Dubfreeze, would I be better getting one there?

Thanks

If your going to put it in the battery box under the passenger seat then your going to be limited in your options
Under seat Dimensions, 275 wide x 175 deep x 190 high. the height is the tricky one, take a tape measure I doubt you will find one to fit at DF your alternative is to site the battery somewhere else and get a proper Leisure like a 110Amp hour

Yes its for under the seat, I currently have a normal one there which seems to work lights ok but as soon as I switch on the heater it conks out after a few mins.
I plugged in the 12v mains (which Im told charges the lesiure) for about 8 hours but still seem to have the same problem
Heater woks fine with the mains in though!

Maybe I should take it out and charge with a dedicated battery charger?
Any suggestions?

On the wiki theres a list of batteries that fit. They are not strictly leisure batteries but are fine for running lights/water pumps/car stereos off

http://www.club80-90.co.uk/wiki/index.p ... s_that_fit

www.manbat.co.uk do the numax batteries listed on Tanya also and have a branch in guildford

a standard car battery in good condition will run an ebber overnight, but as Jen and i found out last dubfreeze, you need a good run for a charge up before the following nite, esp in sub zero conditions

Heaters and fridges will flatten your battery nicely, gas is the way to go for them if you don't have a hook up, unless you have an ebber of course.

I've just fitted a 85A/h leasure battery under the passenger seat.
BUT....

I had to raise the passenger seat by 50mm to get enough clearence.
I used 50mm box section steel to do it, and it seems OK. (enough head clearence)

Another way I considered was to cut out the bottom and extend the box down another couple of inches, but I couldn't be arsed getting the welder out!

Hi Cate
My heater is an ebber using a fuel pumb underneath, so should this work on on the leisure?
