Changed the brakes and tightened up the peening nut on my lhd van done about 50 miles or so then i pulled off the wheels to check the brakes discs to see if they wobble. Passenger side was fine but the drivers side wobbled. I then tried to tighten the peening nut and the thread on the knuckle has gone its too thin and will not hold the bolt.
My questions are :
1. Where can I get a knuckle from ? ( the bit that the discs bolt on to
2. If this is replaced what else do I need to change ball joints ? I have never done this job before.
3. Is there is anyone local to nuneaton \ coventry who can give me hand I can reqrd them with beer tokens or pay some money as I need the van ready asap as we are going to Italy in it.
4. what tools are required to the job?
Help !!!!!!
Cheers

Honestly don't mean to be rude but from your general comments it doesn't sound like you should be playing with brakes.
Front bearings are taper roller type and so should NOT be loaded by the nut. The nut should be tightened only until it stops (finger tight) then taken back a whisker to allow for expansion.
Overtightening will result in bearing collapse and possible RTA.

Thanks for the advice but I followed the instructions as per haynes manual to fit the bearing i.e pack out with mulit grease slide the bearing casing in etc....
When I checked the hub/ brake disc there was play in it, so I decided to tighten the peening nut, Its seems that the thread has already been messed about with. I was only tightening enough to get rid of the play othersie I guess my wheel would fall off.
When looking at it closer the thread had gone so I guess I have to change the steering knuckle and ball joints.
Just wanted to some advice where to get one and what other bits I require to get the job done and if there was anyone local who could help as this is my first time doing this.
I'm quite techincally minded just want to learn and do the job properly.
Thanks in advance and no offence taken - cheers !!

nindy, you said,
Local to where? Please fill in some details in your profile it makes life so much easier.
C.J. at www.syncrospares.co.uk could probably help with the parts, and maybe the work.
