Radiator fan stays on

Post by cozmik »

Had a brand new radiator fitted, the fan stayed on when I got home or came on again and flattened the battery, then when I charge it or jump it, it comes straight back on. Have replaced the heat sensor switch so not that. I have to disconnect the fan or it just keeps running.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Does it still run when you disconnect the plug from the switch?

I'd be taking it back to the garage and being 'Mr Disappointed :( ' ... rapidly turning into 'Mr Extremely Disappointed :? ' and with the distinct possibilty of becoming 'Mr Cold and Nasty  ' ... muttering darkly about "Trading Standards" and "compensation for shoddy workmanship".

Give them a chance to redeem themselves first though.

Van is going back to them tomorrow. I read the previous threads but didn't really get a difinitive answer from them. I would like to be able to tell them what the prob is seeing as they caused it and clearly don't know what they did wrong when fitting the new radiator.

Bloody garages. I wish we had a Baxter down in the south. Not thinking of franchising are u mate?

Too right mate. I'd second that. Definitely need a garage in the East Herts area that's sympathetic to the needs of the T25 owner :( Anyone know of one?

Well, if they've just swapped the rad it's either the wiring or the switch, that should limit things a bit for them ... have they earthed out the switch ? If they've swapped the switch get them to swap it back.

Just wondered if you could swap faults with smokeyjon....... he's in Bristol........ his fan won't run :!: :D :D
Sounds to me as if the fault may be in the plug, is it male or female,...... Ooh Err missus,......... is there crud in there or are the contacts ....errr ... contacting...... each other that is,..... they should be separate. Sorry if I am a bit uncertain, but never had my plug off so not sure of the gender so to speak. Current must be going to earth via the plug itself is what I am trying to say. Or as Kev says................

Yeh if we just drive along nose to nose we'll be ok

She's back in the garage that fitted the radiator in the first place! So far they've broken an indicator, snapped the gearstick and fitted a poltergeist powered radiator fan. I only went in for a brake cylinder.

Apparently the auto electrickery bloke is in tomorrow. It's a shame he wasn't in the day they were working on my electrics.

Looks like I'll be riding my bike again this weekend.
