hey guys/girls my van had a recon put in last year by previous owner and he is now in Australia so can't contact him to ask .
so is this a 1.9 DG ?

yes

and if you look on the engine block near the alternator.. the engine code is there
AGG 2.0L 8V. (Golf GTi MkIII)

thanks kev , I did just see the DG in wiki with the lpg conversion and thought that it looked similar 8)

the air filter changed in 85, from the early to the late......the one in this pic is the later one, the early one has the cheaper filter element.......so i changed mine to early!!

Yep, looks just like the 1.9DG I've got, except that the pipe in the top left corner isn't on fire in my van.

So is this a late dg engine then, or is it just the air filter that's the later one? Is that the thermostat housing in the top left of the photo, instead of being on the side of the water pump?

IIRC Tony it's just the cooling system, exhaust and air filter.

early engines look a mess of pipes and stuff ... late ones are a lot tidier

I am so glad that someone else has had to fix the vac pipe on with cable ties.
Looks the same as my 1989 DG..even the bodges match!!!!!

ah so someone else also had to bodge it in the same way , well it is a bodge that works :lol:
