We've just got this one http://www.avtex.uk.com/products/televi ... tex-w102d/ but we haven't really used it yet. At home it seems to work best with the cheapest portable aerial we've got
We'll try it in the van next time we go away.

Maplin have some, we had the 8in one priced at 129.00 and it worked fine. There are some duds though, especially on EBAY. Buy from somewhere where you can drop it on a counter if it proves to be unreliable. Problem with the diddy 12V ones is that they seem to be as expensive as a good quality domestic 15in. Most have digital freeview now so a good arial is a must.
Whislt were on the subject anyone recommend a good antenna?
I bought an expensive Sony TV & the antenna is rubbish, youve got to do a MR Bean to get a signal.
The other portable which came with my van, is a cheapo & gets great reception, although it has a battery powered booster.
So I'm looking for an antenna that I can stick ontop of the hi-top as a plonk job...er what I mean is yer plonk it there and it works without the gymnastics..
Any good-uns?....Kev

Minke, had the same problem but go to any Caravan Accessory shop and you will see a white Aerial (about 400mm long) with alloy fins, can't remember the make but its the most common one used by caravanners and boaters and they all seem to stock it. They are very good and suitable for digital. B&Q do a range of 12V signal boosters and these can help in poor reception areas. They fit on an aluminium pole which they also sell but you will have to suss a way of 'plonking' it onto the high top. Had one of those unicorn flying saucer types on the van when I bought it- junked it (say no more)!

When I got ours I also bought an amplfied portable aerial from Argos. Plugged it in at home and got about 11 channels in total.

Decided to use the amplified aerial at home and take the old one with us when we go in the van

Hiya everyone,
I think the best solution for camping is to get an LCD monitor (with built in DVD player) and get a satelite suitcase kit. Using a TV with a half-decent aerial takes up a lot more space than a satellite suitcase kit and LCD monitor/DVD player.
You can get the satelite suitcase kit from Maplins for just under 80 quid and I have had no problems with it at all.
As for Freeview, nearly all of the campsites I have been to had either poor or non-existant Freeview reception. In terms of TV aerials, I would just go to Wilko's and get the 20 quid external aerial for weak to very weak TV reception areas.
Good luck with finding the TV that is suitable for you.
