Wiper switch trouble

Post by shane r »

Took my van for its MoT and it came back with a faulty wiper switch. Intermitent and slow no longer work only the fast speed works but they won't 'park'. Any ideas? I don't have the time to take it back and leave it with them for a day.

Hoping it's something simple.

My wipers are the bog standard type so I don't have first hand knowledge, but in case it may help, on late vans ('86 on) the wiper parking supply is through fuse 17 and the intermittant relay is position 10 on the relay plate (fourth from left bottom row).

Other than that, switch itself or connections (including earths) perhaps?

So are mine (1988) but when I got it it had an aftermarket delay box of tricks which didn't seem to do anything. You sure you haven't got something like that tucked away somewhere? I took it out and they work a treat now. No delaay wipe though. I didn't know they had that. Must look in the book.

I took the dash out and forgot to reattach the earth wire that is at the bottom of the steering column, my wipers wouldn't park....

Thanks gang. One of the things they fixed for the mot was the earth on the column. I bet therein lies the trouble!
