Need a replacement gearbox, WHICH ONE ?????

Post by Krisis »

Hi Alllllllll
As it says in the title my gearbox is FUBAR and I have got to replace it in the next 8 days as Mrs Krisis is of on her jollies with a work mate 8)

Which 4 or 5 speed boxes will fit without major alteration.

It is currently a DY 4 speed box on a JK 1600 diesel, the JK will be changed at sometime in the future to a 1900cc n/a or if pennies allow a TDI.

Now then remember I have just gone back to work having had 7 months off recovering from an operation so money is tighter than usual.

Its not broke? fiddle with it until it is, then you can fix it
Oh and the name is pronounced CRISIS
CS/JK/CS 1.6 diesel on a DY/DY/DU 4 speed box (3rd engine & gearbox now fitted)

easiest is whatever you already have, if four go for a four speed, if five go for a five speed is easiest.
Cheapest and easiest usually is 1.9 petrol four speed ABD, most common probably, it will be fine for now and a little better with a 1.9, swap bellhousing and input shaft, and oil jobs a good un : )
hopefully

Mrs Krisis is away with a work mate when they break up from school, no they work there, well turn up there anyway
