JX alternator mounts - how to get off?

Post by ringo »

I want to use the JX alternator for my AAZ conversion - but cant for the life of me work out how to get to two of the bolts that fix the alternator mount to the JX block.

What the blithering heck?

I think i have to take off the injection pump - am i going mad or is this a really silly design?

Looks like im sticking with the AAZ alternator - but which one is the W connector?

Thanks

the two between the top of the bracket and the pump will come off with a 1/4" or 3/8" drive(cant remember) .bit of a squeeze but you dont need to touch the pump

I need to take a photo - cause there is no way i can get a socket or a spanner under the casing there.

Maybe its not the JX fitting (the engine is a passat 1.6TD)...

Thanks

just been looking thr me pics from when i killed my first engine and fitted an SB code block. is it the hooge alternator bracket with power steering mounts/lugs on ? is it the bolt under the middle of the injector pump you cant get at ? IIRC i got a 13mm(?) spanner and cut it in half ,i could then put it on the bolt head and tap it with a hammer to undo bolt.

Cut down a 13mm spanner and got it out with that.

I hope i never have to do that ever again.

Anyway, the JX alternator is on the AAZ now.

Thanks for the help...
