sorting out a smokey 1.6d

Post by airhead »

I just got a new van and the engine is burning oil. Its not all that eager to rev either but it doesn't sound bad and starts easily. Am I p!ssing against the wind trying to do anything with this engine and I should just get a new one into it or is there anything that can be done as a short term measure just to eek a few thousand more miles out of it? It does have high mileage. Close on 200,000 miles (Maybe more even cause the speedo cable is snapped), so Im fully aware this engine has expired, but I'd like to hold off on the engine swap for a little while if I can. Any suggestions?
