under Dashboard switch...what does it do?

Post by rufusontour »

Hi, We have located a switch in our van in the centre of the van, below the dashboard level with our gearstick slightly to the right so not quite centre!! so if you have a stereo in a van, just underneath nearest to the stearing wheel, except we don't understand what it is or was for, it is simply a flick switch which lights up any suggestions?? Thanks,

It could be related to the leisure battery, it could be related to the ignition (immobiliser) or it could be there just to as a discussion point.

Every t25 is fitted with one of these. It's a redundant lightup switch fitted by a previous owner which used to serve some exciting purpose such as a flashing neon sign on the roof that said "Girls, Girls, Girls", but when the PO transferred the neon sign to his new car he left the switch in place so as not to leave a hole in the dashboard, and left a supply going to it so it would still light up to wreck your head and make you think it actually does something.

We had one of those too. Turned out it was for the speakers on the old crappy [now skpped] stereo, for sound in the back/front/both

The one in my mates van does the split charging to the leisure battery while driving but its pretty useless as he always forgets to switch it on till he gets to the campsite.
