Gunson carb balancer

I've just got one of these on fleabay and I'm fairly sure it's missing something - there is nothing in the translucent orange scale gauge part. I've never really seen one close up and am guessing that there should be some sort of float thingy that gets partly sucked up the taper tube by the partial vacuum when it's connected to an intake. Anyone got one who can enlighten me?

Hi Keith, it should have a little black T shaped plastic float thingy!!
On mine there is also a combined crocodile clip/holding clip!!!
I found that the part you put on the carb was too clumsy to set up(or was that just me?),so i have adapted mine by using one of those small pop top drinks bottles with the bottom section cut off untill the right size for the carb top.
The warmed-up end of the tube just fits through the popped lid and when popped back it made it airtight.
Drill about 4 six mil holes around the shoulder of the bottle to allow the airflow,if the float hits the top drill another hole or if it won`t float put some tape over a hole.
The bottle, once set up allows you to re-check at a moments notice and can be swapped from carb to carb without losing the flow setting.

Thanks for that - question now is whether I can make something similar or should I make the seller have it back and get a refund? The croc clip to park the gauge thingy is also missing so not a very good do all round - I've send a message to him all about this so we will have to see...
