oil spots

Post by callanish »

I have a 2.1 water cooled petrol engine which has a small but noticeable oil leak from "under" the engine.
Can someone advise where this could be coming from please and what i might have to do to put it right

They most often weep from the sump plug a little bit. I would spray bottom of engine with duck oil, or wd-40 or similar, polish it all nice and clean, and do some observations. The crankcase sometimes weeps oil, and you can pinch up the bolts in the afflicted area. Also could be push rod seals, this will show as a leak coming from behind that metal protector pipe thing. But a good clean up first will definately aid detection.
