I have been told that if you put LISTERENE in a spray and squirt it about a bit it will keep the little 'biters' away
Havn't tried it (yet) and I have never used the stuff so don't know if the 'aroma' would be off putting to those other than the bugs.
Might make for a more enjoyable camp.

I should think this would keep everything and everyone away! At least the Avon smells nice! I'm a mozzie magnet but haven't been bitten once since I started to use the Avon stuff. They often have it on offer too - BOGOF (I said BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE). If you don't know any Avon reps, try http://avonshop.co.uk/shop/default.asp? ... &otc=&bnd=&

I understand that you don't spray yourself but spray round the door of the van etc. but I have to say that is not much use when your out and about.
Didn't know about the Avon product. Will give it a go.

I usually cover myself in a deet based product (ugh, ugh, ugh!)
it smells vile and makes me cough, so I'm very interested in the Avon Skin so Soft option.....

.......but which one? I clicked on your link, madwitch and there are 96 products - including hair remover

We've used this one before, it contains citronella (as used in those yellow outdoor candles for deterring the midgies etc) iirc:
