123ignition for the Aircooled Volkswagen engines, 123\VW-R-V

Post by irishkeet »

Hello all

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this dizzy, couldnt find anything on the site....

http://www.123ignition.nl/id/19.html

more info

http://www.volksrepairs.nl/123ignition.htm

I was chatting to a couple of bay owners on the weekend who have these and are well impressed with them, just wondering if an Aircooled 2L would benefit from one

cheers

Your T25 should have electronic ignition as standard so it wont actually help.. a good service and time up will....

hi toomanytoys

yes I have the dizzy with vacum advance but the sensor kit is coming away from the side of the dizzy
Its held with a bit of glue and a cable tie but Im thinking I need to upgrade so i may as well get this one. I was wondering if anyone else had used one yet.

With the time up do I need to time it differently because I have an LPG system?

cheers

fit another standard one... Or rebiuld yours.. (brickworks does the hall senders etc) there wont be an "upgrade" using that dizzy... + the type 4 engine needs a different advance curve to the type 1 engines..

For LPG personally I would advance the timing, but I cant say how much... one of the other aircoold guys running LPG should be able to say.. or ask Steve at Gasure...

Or if you want a fully programmable ignition unit, I am testing one shortly...

Look at it this way... The rev range is around the same. The need for torque at certain revs is about the same so the advance curve won't be all that different.
I know people running the 123 on many different engines and doing very well. 1600s, 1776s 2 litres.
My only 'beef' is that they seem very expensive. Even though they are superb.

So far, I've heard no negative comments on them first hand. Which is the yard stick you should be referring to.

So... In my honest opinion.... Go for it.
