Which green?

Post by caveman »

No not that type of green, i'm refering to the color of my transporter. I imported mine from germany last year and it was a german army red cross T3 1990. VWbus.com has 2 different color greens for sale to match but is it NATO olive or NAV olive ?

I can and have gotten a color match, however nobody makes a flat ,matt finish, they are only gloss.
Even without clearcoat. I can get my bodyshop to polish out the old paint to match a newer gloss finish ,but he says that because the original paint is so old and faded, the polishing compound may just take all the paint off. That's why i'm trying to get the right paint to start over.

will be NATO . any motor factor/paint shop will be able to colour match it, just get paint code off chassis plate for them - ask them to put a 'matting agent' in it to give it the correct finish.

RAL 6031 - Bronzegrün to be precise, matt (stumpfmatt)

Problem is ..the paint will not match. That matt paint ages really badly and very quickly looses its colour. Mine has been re-sprayed (half-heartedly) by the army in several places and is now at least 40 different shades of green on closer inspection.
