Who can lower a T25 in/around SW London

As you can see I'm a newby to this board, been watching a lot but have just decided to get involved.

I've got a 1989 T25, purchased in April last year so the other half didn't have to sleep in a tent at Glastonbury! We are now proud T25 owners, having spent many weekends over the summer heading out into a forest somewhere in the UK to get away from London.

So, as it's almost a years worth of ownership, it's time to do something, and that involves new alloys and lowering. Still looking at the alloys thing (it's obviously not as easy as it looks and if anyone has some 16" somethings that would be ready to go on our van get in touch), but the next step is a wee bit of lowering.

I would like to go 60mm, but might be better to go 45 as there is a water tank underneath. I want to have a good job done and don't have the tools myself. I live in Putney, SW London, so am looking if anyone knows someone suitable close by. Ideally I might head up to Huddersfield, looks like you get a good job done there........

Hi there and welcome sorry can't help you with a garage for the lowering thing as i fitted a lowering kit myself but as for wheels check out ebay as most mercedes wheels will fit with a little bit of work all i had to do with my SLK rims was open out the stud holes from 12mm to 14mm you will more than likely have to but longer rear wheel studs and bolts for the front i also had to space the front out by 10mm hopr this helps a bit

hi i fitted jk 60mm kit couple of weeks ago, easy job,just trying to clear some space in workshop let me know next week and i can do the job for a small charge! del

Well.... from my experience you either have Jack's garage in Notting Hill, good vw mechanics (non syncro) but he don't like doing non stock mods to vehicles.

Last time I needed something done which I didn't have time to do myself. I went to Darren @ V.W Airfix. Seemed to know his stuff and drove a T25 himself.

sorry i dont like the JK kit there "pooh" compared to AVO ........Oh and DIY is possible with the right tools ,get it up to us (Jokerdub and myself ) or DIY

Cheers for all the replies. I'll have to get someone to do the lowering at some stage, van lives on the road, and I have no tools!

Will head to Dubfreeze for a look. I take it a few sales take place in the car park?

It's a little out of the way but Eagle Autos in Swanley (Kent) lowered our van, I think they did a good job... let me know if you want the details.

Another vehicle we're all going to have to wait for down the backstreet humps, as well as the Barry's doing 0.0001 mph at every pebble in the road (it's a nightly procession down our mainstreet, a right pain) - ah well, each to his own

I always make sure not to go outside the M25, I'd start getting vertigo.....

So this would be too low?

Just a tad low for parking up for a walk around Ashridge or Asheridge, both just outside your M25 limit unfortunately, but very nice for a stroll in beechwoods (and some ash!) on a day like today (NW of the smoke)

These would be about the mark though:

45mm lowering srpings, £100
