Subaru engine install
The guy who is doing my Scooby install is doing a piece by piece thread on Brick-Yard. Titled "subaru install live" flightpath is going to show us all how it it is done. So far he has cut up the car and taken out the wiring loom.
Keep a check on this one to see how a professional can fly through a Scooby install.

Here's subby conversion story for you. A good customer has a 86 westy. Found an engine himself for cheap because he had to help the wrecker guy take it out of a 2003 impreza. I did the timing belt while it was out.
Didn't see anything suspisious. My customer got the kit from Vanaru.
Put everything in ,all kit parts fit okay. Try to start-no go. Check this and that. Finally figure i need to do a pin test at the ecu, because i only have spark at 1&2 not 3&4[??],find out the harness is from a 2002 not 2003, and the pin designation doesn't match 2 complete wiring diagrams i had. After many many hours i told my customer to call the guy who made up the kit. He convinced him to come from the states [7 hour drive] to figure out what is going on. After an hour of me and him doing more diagnosics, he pulled the exhaust and timing covers off so he can see for himself. The motor had the wrong crank pulley on it, different amount of teeth. What the blithering heck

Never mind - it was only a Subaru!!!
It's piece of mind running it for a while just to know you have a good engine. I've done two now from scrappies - and been lucky every time (well, fairly lucky). However, im not going to risk it again....

Now driving a big bad VW LT Florida.

Well we went to the F&G this weekend and dropped the bus off on the way home. WOW the engine looks so clean and it has been put back together so well, a real professional job. Missing my bus but it's for the best. we have couple of little problems to overcome but it should go ahead nice and smoothly. Paul is excellent he appears to just put that little bit extra in. Happydays.
