replacement fridge

Post by hagzo »

the fridge (rm184egi) in my westy is pretty knackered and getting
a replacement is like finding hens teeth.
Anyone know of another solution i.e. 1 from an older van that'll fit straight in or another type?
Guess this quite a common problem

replacement fridge

hagzo, google 'Obriens Camping' & you'll find that they stock a vast range of Dometic 2 way/3 way fridges. Remember that the RM184 may have been replaced by a different model. :)

Cheers Bowton,

Gave O'briens a call and they were very helpfull but unable match the RM184 from my van to any replacement as it comes from a van originally built in europe.
After measuring my fridge i think the closest replacement is RM4181 only thing is the flue is on the opposite side and wont tie in to the fridge exhaust on my van.
Other trouble is the door for the original fridge matches the westie interior and ideally should be swapped to any replacement.
It's not easy finding a replacement - believe me i've been trying for nearly a year. I
t's been suggested that i try the german market which looks like the only option.
I let you know how i get on.....

The plastic sliders in the 3 way button unit are knackered Leftie.
Probably the worst thing that could've broke.
I've tried most electrolux stockist, vw sellers, and breakers both here and in the U.S.
The fridge still works but it's a pain to move the wires when changing the supply. I've also tried maplin and those places for a simple switch but believe it or not the don't do a 3 way switch which isolates the other supplies.

Well if you do go for a replacement I would glady cross your palm with silver for the plastic panel which holds the switches.
I sadly broke mine whilst remioving it too many times to mention.
