Post by Marclegalle »

Hi

Not having the van here, can I find out if I have an AAZ engine from the chasis number or anything?

Just looked at mine and I think the answer is 'No' unfortunately. Can you get at the V5 logbook? Its printed on the paper data sheet stuck on the bulkhead just below the steering wheel aswell as the actual engine but that's not much help if the van's elsewhere. Can't you phone someone who can look in the van for you?

The engine number is not directly quoted on the German papers (both Parts) but there are some codes - look at fields 5, 6 & 7 of the Fahrzeugbrief (it should be the big one).

They may not be fields 5,6 & 7, you could have the new "Zulassungsbescheinigung" which also comes in two parts.
Look on the Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (the big one) and in fields P1 through P4.
If you print them here we'll tell you what you should have for a motor.

You have a 1598cc Diesel Engine that produces 51Kw @ 4500 rpm.

So there's a good chance that it is a JX coded 1.6 Turbo.

I am not 100% about it being a JX, I have a JX but on my papers it is down as 1570cc.

But it is probably the same engine as mine, if you look after it
(i.e. don't thrash it, change the oil and filter regularly) it'll last approx. 250,000 kms (mine did).

Great thanks

I'm taking it to my garage soon for them to do a full service and I get some tips for looking after it.

Have a good day
