Hi lads and lass's....my bus was running great the weekend before last after being in the garage having a new Thermostat housing and thermostat fitted....this weekend we were supposed to be meeting up with another couple of friends with campervans....but when i went to start it it was sounding like it was only running on 3 cylinders...no revs to speak of and black smoke out the exhaust pipe...took the plugs out and they were covered in dry black soot...claened them and went round the block got back temp up to normal running on gauge...the bus would not 'tick' over on it's own for more than 5 ish seconds before it cut out...took the plugs out and again covered in dry black soot....which i would say is a very strong mixture....took the top off the carb to see if the auto chock had got stuck in the closed position on the butterfly but it hadn't ...so could it be muck in the carb jets...or something more sinister
thank you all in advance...
i would appreciate any answers from you guys...so i can plan for the summer with the family...if we have not already had it ..lol
best

The clue is in the question, so Roy Walker used to say on 'Catch Phrase'

And I say check the wires properly to the senders on the thermosat housing as they have a tendancey to go a bit crispy over the years, and have been know to break inside the insulation, which can then lead to various running concerns.
And seeing as they will have been disturbed during the fitting of the new housing it might just be the best place to start looking.
