Possible to refresh double glazing?

Post by Swampy »

Morning all.

Not sure if this is possible, but the plastic double glazing on my van is starting to look a bit tired (minor scratches etc).

Father-in-Law reckons there's some sort of cream/wax that I can apply to freshen up the windows & remove minor scratches, but I've never heard of this.

Anyone heard of this wonder cream? If so any ideas where I may be able to get hold of some?

Thanks.

You could try and find some Greygate (Graygate) plastic polish, we used to use to remove scratches from Aircraft Canopies.

There is that polish you can get to remove scratches from your Handy, but it only comes in little tubes (you'll need lots!).

Blimey, I honestly thought these would damage the windows!

Dubsta, I thought T-Cut was coloured, or is there a clear version?

That Greygate looks interesting, I'll give them a call.

Thanks for the advice!

I'm sure T Cut etc will be OK...The best thing for getting scratches out of plastic watch glasses is toothpaste! It works great...
Eucryl smokers toothpaste gets the deeper scratches out then normal toothpaste for finishing off!
Fenwicks do a polish for caravan windows...Halfords sell it too.

I've never used it myself but I find Fenwicks products are usually very good

D'you know, I've come across some Brasso in the shed. I'll give it a try as it's free.

I'm amazed at the toothpaste, though! Didn't know that was abraisive.

OK just tried brasso and not as good as t cut. T cut is less messy and came off much easier. I think i'll leave the brasso for the brass.
