Looking for the right engine

Post by max.karisma »

Thanks to those who replied and told me about elite engines who when I contacted appeared the biz but then I was told about German Swedish Engines 0161 876 0466 who sounded like they really knew their stuff. Has anyone had dealings with them or have I not given enough info.
Really want this rebuild right so any comments appreciated. Also want to replace clutch, water pump and exhaust system at same time so any comments on that would be good.
Max (as in MAD on her T25)

Max,,,,,If you are doing this job yourself get as many opinions as you can, as far as I can see you will be into at least 1500 quids worth of parts once you have finished with your rebuild.

By the sound of it you have your engine choice sorted so I can only offer my choice of Stainless exhaust system.......see below.

It is a stainless system which will cost you approximately 425GBP from
www.vwspeedshop.co.uk

Others are available of similar quality inc fitting but at a higher price.....

Don't know who you are referring to, be interested to know as it's local for me. GSF, aka German Swedish and French chain of motor factors supply VEGE engines sourced from a certain engine rebuilder in London, they come without flywheel, and i have some experience of them not being what I'd expect for the money, but you can't get a VW one anymore which is what I did in the end.
Exhaust JP Exhausts in Macclesfield do in SS something more akin to the original late exhaust which doesn't require any strange oil filters being fitted to clear it, it's a bit more expensive than the above, but the warranty is good in my experience, ditto Elite, when called upon have stood by their product, and when not called on it's cos it was great.
But noone has produced an exhaust and put it on a dyno and produced any figures which is a shame. The VW is modular which is good and is still available generally both new and used, use new fittings and gaskets and care and they do the job.

'twould be good to have someone dyno these aftermarket exhausts, even the makers themselves, to prove they at least don't make things worse
