ive melted my ignition switch
ive checked the wiring in the columb and it get a bit hot while running
theres no visibal damage to wires its a 2.1 water cooled
any ideas

Tony, might just be something as simple as a bad connection as this will lead to the terminals warming up.
check all the spades in the switch plug for signs of being burnt, if they are then change them for new ones.

Any extra loads added to it?
Load of stuff running from the ignition live? loads of bulbs on sidelight circuit or owt daft like that?
Any scotch (bodge) loks present?
Them things are evil, I won't have them in the garage, if I do get them, they go in the bin, you wouldn't believe the problems they create.

Sometimes there isn't any particular reason apart from: it's 20 years plus old and so the internal contacts have become worn/poor which has resulted in high resistances on the contacts.
High resistance equals heat, heat melts....switch foooooked
£8.51 from GSF....about an hour to fit....job done!
And....these switches are a regular problem anyway.
