Brake pipes at back

Just replaced trailing arms but had to cut out brake pipes at joins to get old ones off. Can I buy the metal pipes already made at VW - or is this something a local firm can make up cheaply from pattern of old bits?

See that Justkampers do replacement hoses.

Advice appreciated.

The pipes you are after have been a long gone item from VW, in fact these types of things were always made in house anyway,,,,,,I'm sure you could find someone local to you to make you some pattern items........BUT if you have no joy I'm sure I could make you a pair including postage for 12 quid.

I got them second-hand from Syncrospares near Cullompton in Devon - which is pretty much on my way home from work.

Cost £84 each - and they were in very good nick. Apparently he has a load of them - although reckoned he sold about 10 in last couple of weeks!

I've just had a set of rear arms off CJ too, just spent the last few months leisurely replacing springs/dampers -50 Avos, bushes ball joints etc. Imagine my surprise when I removed the rear springs only to find corrosion so bad the springs were probably a few weeks short of falling through the top of the arms!!! Also got a full set of hard pipes made up at Dave Edwards motor factors in Cardiff for £10 - bargain!

Just failed my mot on brake pipes, 3 way splitter section at the rear, can I get this or will it need to be made up? what is it made from? Thanks

There's an article on the Wiki telling you everything your motorfactor will need to make them .... and by 'Motorfactor' I don't mean Hellfrauds.

Brake pipes on older vehicles are nearly always made up as needed.
Most of the "motorist Discount" kind of places will make them up for you.
Measure the old ones accurately by running a piece of string along their length, then take the measurement to you local shop.
You need short metric 'male' ends fitting.
Cut the old pipes in order to fit a ring spanner onto each union (just easier) or uses vise-grip pliers.
I took my 3 way off to get the cut off unions out (as long as the main front/to rear union comes undone)
