ARRRRGGHHH me starter wont start!

Post by Bendyknees »

hey guys. sposed to be goin away this weekend for my b'day. went an filled up wit fuel, tried to start it, there was a brief click an then nowt. bump started it and got home took the starter off and could see the issue straight away. the main feed wire between the solenoid ant the motor has corroded and broken away. i tried to split the whole thing in order to replace the wire but i cant seem to seperate it fully. the solinoid fork seems to be holding it in. Didnt struggle wit it for too long as it was late an i was hungry. any1 know how to do it?

The way to release the solenoid from the fork is to hold the bendix gear in the position it would be in during start up, then while holding the solenoid once it has been unscrewed from its mounting, simply push it back into the hole where it sits but at the same time unhooking it from the fork lever.

IMHO, it is a bit of a specialist job to replace this wire at the best of times.
