I have a 1986 2.1 petrol van and the head just blew on the original engine. I have passed it over to a mechanic I trust but would like opions on what I should do as I want to invest in this van. Do I :-
-Just get head skimmed and new gaskets (but when engine is taken out to do this I fear alot of crusty bits will fall away)
-Buy a new engine same speck and have clutch looked at and exhaust system replaced as pretty knackered
-Buy a 1.9 engine (will it be more fuel economical?)
There has been no probs with bottom end but I wondered if labour charges would be better if done all in one go?
If anyone has been here please pass on your experiences and places to purchase bit bits - I want to get up and running to catch the summer but want to get it right.
Any response much appreciated
Gal on her on in a van and hoping to be at Vanfest!!
