I'm probably not selling my van, but even if I do I'd like to sell it in the best condition possible.
My mpg hasn't been very good as long as I've had the van and, having replaced all the fuel lines and fitted a new tank and filler-neck, I don't think there's a problem with fuel leaking anywhere.
This makes me think I probably need to get the carbs refurbed. I'm not sure if this is something I can do myself (if you think it is, what parts will I need and where do I get them?) so I need to find somewhere that can do it for me. Any suggestions who to contact?

MPG is not very good on the 2ltr ac. I get around 16-19 on petrol.
http://www.megabug.co.uk/ has a carb refurb kits. Easy to refurb the tricky bit is getting the set up spot on.
There is a stall at Vanfest that sets them up spot on for £30, good guys drive all the way from germany for the show.

the biggest prob on these carbs is the throttle spindle wears. allowing air in. or petrol out!!
steve has developed a way to solve this (which wont be in a refurb kit)
if you speak to him he may just redo the spindles for you and you can rebuild the rest yourself,
or slap a pair of delortos on it like i did to mine!!!

Good call forgot about that bit. You will also need four spindle bushes, they cost around 50p each.
What MPG do you get with delortos. I happy with the solex but always looking to save on fuel.

Cruising at a steady 65mph (which is most of the driving I do in the van) I calculate my consumption as around 15-16mpg. These things should be capable of around 25mpg at that kind of speed. I want to keep mine as original as possible.
Thanks for the link to the refurb kit - I might have a go at that. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the gaskets are knackered after 26 years so hopefully I'd see some improvement even if it's only small.
