Am I missing a bush?

1981 water cooled LHD 1.6 diesel.
Afer lots of help from the Forum members the starter came out. I've read the Wiki (info is for petrol engines) and used a mirror to check inside the now empty housing for a bush, which is noticeable by it's absence. Should there be one?

standard diesel bellhousing has no bush.
the frot of the starter motor has the bush to support the armeature.
petrols use the bell housing to fix the bush!
