breather tank pipes

Post by lhd »

whilst doing a spot of welding I had to remove the o/s breather tank.
All the flexi pipe was rotten and detatched at the breather tank end and the other ends just came off in my hand.
So now I have one plastic and one metal pipe but can't find where to relocate them.
I have checked the Wicki and it says its possible to do but I cant get my hand in there and cant feel anything to connect them to with my fingers.

Any hints or tips would be gratefully recieved........

The pipes go onto the top of the tank above where the tank filler goes in.

But there is also a pipe that attches and goes towards the rear of the tank..

I would drop the tank.. get the vehicle up in the air and drain the fuel, then disconect the filler assy and then drop the tank.. the breather pipes on the tank run acroos the top too, so you wil need to unplug them..
clean replace where required, use new bits of rubber hose, (5.6mm IIRC) and lube each connection with a bit of waxoyl to assist reconnection.. you need to get your arm in to refit before lifting the tank all the way in...
