Hi top side surfboard fixing?

Post by Marclegalle »

Hi I'm new

Wow that title is a bit confusing sorry, I have a long board and need to work out how to transport this on my T25 hi top, I think I have seen side bars for boards, does anyone know where I would get these from or do you get them custom made?

Anyone got another solution? board is 10ft so will not fit inside.

Thanks and great forum
Marc

Referred to as J bars i think; mount to side of high top - no idea where to buy them though; try Just Kampers and the like.

You can buy web stapped style surf board racks for cars. They just attached to the gutters. Just buy them and modify em so you can hang it off the side of the high top. Saves drilling the van.

We've just had some made - cost about £150 in stainless steel. Could try your local metal worker!

Gunzl sells them

http://www.vwbusshop.de/

Though they are listed under the T4 Dach section, roof bits, may fit, or perhaps they can offer another type.

How do I know.... I got a T4 California from Germany with a board rack on the hightop, when I was selling it I got a lot of interest in the van but even more in the board rack, so I found out where it came from.

On my current T4 and T25 Joker I use a Fiamma bike rack, just as long as the board is less than 7 feet (?!)
