idle stabilser unit problem

idle stabilser unit problem

1980 t25 2 litre air cooled. the stabilser unit has been by passed by join the two sockets together as you would for setting timing. i have tried putting the unit back into the circuit to find startung and tick over terrible, lumpy. is the unit faulty? , im i ok to run with out this unit fitted anyone got a spare. will this effect emissions at MOT time?

same on mine too ever since i've had it, never caused any problems so never seen the point of changing. emissions ok too.

Stamp on it.
Set timing to 30 degrees full advance and leave it at that.

didnt think the unit would do a lot as my bay 2 litre performs well with out such a device :D Just panicked a bit when i found it hidden in a cupboard
